Sealants, Plastics, Chemical

This test shows a sealants ability to be stretched a small amount for a long period without breaking free, after being submersed in water. Replicating the natural forces expansion and contraction of sealed materials will apply to the sealant with the addition of some good old fashioned wet weather.

The sealant is applied to the materials it intended for use on (aluminium, glass or mortar) and left to cure for a month under laboratory conditions, following which if required, dry heat and cool water cycling. They are then left in a final water soak for 4 days before testing. The assembled sealant blocks are then stretched a pre determined amount(depending on modulus etc.) and held at the stretched amount for 24 hours. Any breakage is assessed and whether the sealant ruptures or comes off the material.
