The New 2017 version of the EN 15651-1-4 will not be approved for use in 2017 as it has been rejected by the EC Services and will not be cited in the OJEU (Official Journal of the European Union).
Members of the CEN TC349 will now be amending the 2017 version which will move straight to a new 2018 approved version.
As the only Notified Body Test Laboratory for Sealant Testing in the UK we will be continuing to test sealants to the 2012 version of the EN 15651 1-4 until the new 2018 version is approved.
4Ward Testing has seen a large increase in the number of companies testing their chromium finishes products to MIL-DTL-5541F type II, following the ban on the use of hexavalent chromium, thus ensuring the safe use of chemicals by using the proposed substitute trivalent chromium for corrosion protection.
The BS EN 15651 1-5:2017 and BS EN 12004 1- 2:2017 have recently been updated, and we await confirmation of their approval in the Official Journal of the European Union, says 4Ward Testing.
