Standard Test Method for Impact Resistance of Pipeline Coatings (Falling Weight Test). Pipeline coatings wrapped around a piece of pipe (oddly enough) are placed on a special rig and a weight with a specific impactor is dropped onto it to penetrate the coating. The height maximum height without penetration is established along with a series of calculations to give an impact resistance figure.
